In celebration of the 55th anniversary of the name change from Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan, the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department held the Reading of Surah Yaasin, Tahlil and Doa for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien, Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit and Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim. It took place at the Royal Mausoleum, 2nd October afternoon.

Among those present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs. Such a ceremony is among the spiritual activities lined up in conjunction with the celebration. It was held in honour of the contributions of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien in developing and modernising Brunei Darussalam.
